As this option does not require electricity, it is normally the most straightforward of our three packages. The unit is professionally fitted to your existing toilet, connected to a suitable water supply and thoroughly tested for correct operation, water pressure and leaks.

Installation will only proceed where the selected product and proposed water connection can be completed in accordance with the applicable UK Water Supply Regulations, including the appropriate backflow protection required for the product and bathroom arrangement.

Japanese smart bidet seat — £880

An advanced electric bidet seat professionally fitted to your existing toilet. Features include adjustable warm-water washing, a heated seat, warm-air drying, a self-cleaning nozzle, remote control, night lighting and an energy-saving mode.

Unlike the non-electric attachment, these advanced comfort features require a safe and reliable mains electricity supply. If a suitable electrical connection is not already available, an electrician may need to route new cabling from an appropriate existing circuit—or install a new circuit where necessary—through the wall, floor or another discreet route.

The electricity supply will then be terminated at a compliant, RCD-protected connection point that is suitable for the bathroom and correctly positioned in accordance with the relevant electrical zones. Depending on the bathroom layout and the manufacturer’s instructions, this may involve a permitted socket outside the restricted area or an appropriate fused and isolated connection. No exposed extension leads or unsafe temporary connections will be used.

The existing toilet must first be disconnected and removed before the new smart toilet can be carefully positioned, secured and connected to the property’s water supply and waste outlet. The complete plumbing arrangement is then tested to confirm reliable flushing, appropriate water pressure and a watertight installation.

The toilet’s integrated heating, washing, drying, display, lighting and intelligent-control systems require a permanent and safely isolated electrical supply. Rather than leaving a visible socket, plug or loose cable beside the toilet, the electricity supply is normally routed discreetly through the wall or floor to a concealed fixed connection point within or behind the unit, subject to the manufacturer’s requirements and bathroom layout.

Creating this concealed supply may involve routing new cabling, accessing an appropriate existing circuit, installing suitable isolation and RCD protection, and professionally testing and certifying the completed work. Combined with removing the existing toilet and establishing the new water and waste connections, this makes the complete smart-toilet installation substantially more involved than fitting a bidet attachment or replacement smart seat.
